Casting Call

Beyond Mother Love is a forthcoming documentary film and research project that explores friendships that cross cognitive and neurological divides, in partnership with Vue Cinemas and King’s College London

We're looking to connect with groups of two or more friends that include at least one person with a cognitive disability or neurodivergence.

We want to understand how these mixed-ability' friendships work and what it's like to be part of them.

If you, or someone you know, are in a friendship with someone who has a learning disability, brain injury, Autism, or dementia, we’d love to hear your story!

Watch our teaser video and nominate a friendship below:

Background:

It is well known that people with cognitive differences are significantly more likely to experience friendlessness in adulthood.

This film tells the unusual stories of friendships that have formed between people with and without cognitive disabilities or neurodivergence, these are known as ‘mixed-ability friendships’.

Our production team is also mixed-ability and we are proud to be collaborating and consulting with artists who have cognitive disabilities in every aspect of the film’s development and production.
